Frequently Asked Questions
Who qualifies for free dental care?
We serve low-income residents of St. Lucie County between the ages of 19 and 64 without access to insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, or veteran’s services.
How do I make an appointment?
Is there an application process to be seen?
Yes. Before you can receive services at HANDS, you must be seen by a Patient Navigator who will help you through the application process, and set your first appointment to be seen.
Will I see the dentist right away?
After seeing a Patient Navigator, you must first be seen by one of our primary physicians. When you are being seen, make sure to tell your doctor that you wish to be seen by the dental department and he/she will make that referral for you.
Are all or your services free of charge?
No. We offer many in-house services at no cost. However, some services require equipment or doctors that we do not have access to for free. In these cases, we send the patient to a network partner to receive the care needed at a discounted rate.
Do you do dentures?
Yes, we do denture work. This service is done through one of our network partners and is not free of charge. However, we receive steeply discounted rates for services provided.
